The people of both regions have been facing difficulties in travelling as most of the public transport went off roads due to CNG closure. The All Pakistan CNG Association, south Punjab chapter has convened an emergency meeting to chalk out future course of action in the wake of prolonged gas closures.
The CNG stations in Punjab will remain closed for three days instead of two and a half day. The Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGC) issued a notification on the latest schedule for closure of gas supply to CNG stations across Punjab. The notification says that CNG stations will remain closed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and reopen at 6 am on Sunday.
The spokesman of APCNGA Shiraz Bashir regretted the government's move for CNG closure and said that the government had backtracked on its promise despite its commitment of eight months of co-operation. Paracha rejected the new schedule and warned that CNG associations may decide to close all outlets across Pakistan at the meeting. Earlier, in a statement, an SNGPL spokesman on Thursday had asked the operators of CNG outlets not to supply gas to vehicles during the scheduled closure, adding action would be taken against those violating the directive.
